Chinese drywall has become a huge problem in Southwest Florida. With the building boom that happened a few years back, a shortage of drywall created a large void. With this void taking place a new product emerged from China. This tainted drywall product has been linked to various symptoms including: Eye irritation, coughing, sore throats just to name a few.
Chinese Drywall Problems: what to look for
When purchasing a home call to have a Chinese Drywall Inspection done on the property. These inspections I charge a $120.00 up to 2000 sq.ft. I look for drywall backing and branding stating who has made the drywall. I also look for A/C coils and check for corrosion. I then look remove (1) plate cover in every room and check the copper wire for corrosion. I remove the front cover on the electrical panel to see if copper is corrodide. The last step is acessing the attic and looking for branding on the back of the drywall. These steps are a way of telling if the home is tainted or not.
